Recharge

I don’t know about you, but I’ve got an iPhone. I’ve had an iPhone since we moved to Japan and the iPhone 3G was just coming out. I’ve had almost ever iteration of the phone. There are things about it that I love, and there are things about it that I do not love. More than not, however, I enjoy being an iPhone user.

A few years back, iPhone adopted a quick charge technology - something that Android phone have had for a long time. For me, this was a game changer. When my phone was almost dead, I could put it on the charger for 20 minutes and it would be back up and running, good-as-new. I loved it. I bought the special plugs that were needed and fully invested. Now, I don’t know what I would do without it.

I mean, sure, the phone charged just fine before this new technology, but, charging faster is better, right?

Several years ago, I found that I could recharge my personal batteries faster by being out in God’s creation. There was something about being outdoors, being in creation, that allowed my soul to connect with the Lord in a different way. I know, in part, that it was because the noises of a busy life did not seem to follow me to places that did not have an internet connection. But, it also seemed to clear my head. It opened my eyes to the beauty of God and His creation. It reminded me that, as amazing as all of God’s creation is, it is nothing compared to God, Himself.

Being in creation and seeing it’s beauty, also reminded me just how amazing it is that God chose to interact with man. The Psalmist ask “Who is man that you are mindful of him?” What an amazing question.

The God who spoke this world into existence thinks about us. He loves us. We are His prized possession!

Finding a new way to connect with the Lord was amazing for me, and in that, the Lord helped me to see just how much He cares for me. I encourage you this week, as the weather looks a little better, get outside. Or, better yet, find the best way to recharge your spiritual batteries and connect with the Lord.
