Memories
One of the things that I love about social media, Facebook in general, is the ability to look back on memories from years past. There are so many funny stories that pop up, great pictures from when my kids were younger, and things that I had forgotten. Not everything that pops up in my memories section is a happy memory, though.
There were seasons of life where we were walking through some very difficult things and it is hard to come back to those things, even years later, and remember them. Those memories hurt, but they are also a reminder of how far God has brought me and my family through the years.
Deuteronomy 8:2 says “And you shall remember the whole way that the Lord your God has led you…” These memories, good and bad, are a great way to remember.
With Thanksgiving right on the horizon, it is time to be thankful. God calls us to give thanks in all circumstances (1 Thes. 5:18), but that is not always an easy thing to do. I know this from experience. There are many people who post 30 days of Thankfulness in the days leading up to Thanksgiving - and I think that is great. I want to start doing something that will help me to be thankful every day of the year - so I am going to start posting something that I am thankful for each day, so that I can look back at my memories and know just how many blessings that Lord has given me. Would you join me?
